   Save some money and just do it, bro. We have been eyeing NZ since 80s, now only got chance to go, truly worth it. In your case, just let yourself loose for 2-3 weeks say, rent a car, stay in budget lodges, or get a campervan, and explore the country. Btw we are grounded Nov-Jan, busy moving to new house. Upcoming trip is to Chengdu in cold end-Jan 2010, though I’m doing a day trip to LIMA ’09 in Langkawi early Dec.

   Good choice to visit Chengdu. But I think winter is the the best time to see beautiful Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong. Instead I will suggest you to go to Daocheng Yading, a true Shangrila they say. And do not miss out on Mount Emei as well! There are so many UNESCO World Heritage Site in Sichuan, do visit them. I had been there 2 years ago.    Thanks for the tips, Jam. Yes, we are looking fwd to Chengdu. Itching to do Xian, Urumqi and all the way to Lhasa, but next time lah. Maybe we can try Lhasa together, that’d be fun!
