The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR)

India > West Bengal > Darjeeling

April 2011

I’d heard so much of the delightful Toy Train of Darjeeling, that one fine spring weekend Mr Alan Bligh and I found ourselves in the Indian Himalaya, after flying into Kolkata, an overnight train to New Jalpaiguri and a harrowing car ride up the mountains to Darjeeling … yes, Planes, Trains & Automobiles! Alan is a true-blue train buff, while I am … ermmm …  a pseudo one, but whatever it is, we had a swell time with the famous Toy Train.

Is this like the train we see in “Bobby”, the movie?

  3. naim says:

Not sure, but I don’t think so. This Darjeeling train is really small, the tracks are just 2ft apart.

Thanks, Ajay, but I’m a travel junkie. 🙂
